Did you know there is a whole building dedicated to Creative Arts at the State Fair of Texas? You definitely want to check it out. If you like arts and crafts and cooking shows, then head on over to the Creative Arts Building for some indoor fun. Another cool fact about the Creative Arts Chefs and Creative Arts Contest winners is, they are all fellow Texans! Another interesting Fair fact is, the Fair is BIG on “serving Texans while building on our mission of promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement”, according to the State Fair of Texas website.
Inside the Creative Arts Building, you will find the Celebrity Chef Kitchen, Creative Arts Competition Kitchen, this year’s Butter Sculpture, and see all of the Creative Arts Contest winners work on display. There will be chefs from Texas’ prominent restaurants at the Celebrity Chef Kitchen. Check the schedule for more information concerning dates and times. If watching cooking competitions interest you, then head on over and watch the daily contest or cook-off in the Competition Kitchen. If you like cooking competitions and crafts, then you will love seeing the State Fair of Texas Butter Sculpture. A local Texas sculptor sculpts the Fair’s theme out of 1,000+ pounds of butter each year. Now that is a whole lot of butter! The part I like most in the Creative Arts Building is, looking at all of the Creative Arts Contest winners’ work on display. You will find quilts, hand embroidery, crocheting, paintings, and many other hand made creations.
Before you go, check the Creative Arts Building schedule to plan your visit. You do not want to miss out on the fun. You might also want to check out our previous State Fair of Texas BLOGS for additional information. I hope you enjoy your visit.
